MobileBG FIBS is a free client for FIBS, the First Internet Backgammon Server. It runs on J2ME-capable mobile devices, such as cellular phones. MobileBG FIBS is free software licensed under the GNU General Public License.

MobileBG FIBS was recently branched from MobileBG. As such, it should be considered "alpha" software: most important features are implemented, but it is missing things, and there are almost certainly bugs.

Files

Source code and JAD/JAR binary releases are available at the Sourceforge project files page.

Manual Install

You may install the client by downloading and extracting the ZIP file, containing the JAD and JAR files, from the files page, and installing it over Bluetooth or a USB cable, depending on your mobile device and your software configuration.

Gammu users may install the game by downloading and extracting the ZIP file, and, in the same directory as its contents, running:

gammu --nokiaaddfile Game MobileBGFIBS

Compatibility

MobileBG FIBS should run on most devices that support MIDP 1.0. A color or grayscale display is required (simple black and white will not work). A connection to the internet is also required, and your phone must be capable of opening TCP sockets directly. Please check with your service provider first, as you may incur airtime charges.

The current development version is known to work on the following hardware models:

About

The Sourceforge project page is at http://sourceforge.net/projects/mobilebg2.

MobileBG FIBS is based on MobileBG, written by Markus Herven. He is no longer maintaining the software. The goal of this project is to refine and improve the client.

If you are interested in helping, please visit the Sourceforge project page. We need Java programmers as well as users and players to test the software.
